I've validated that the certificate and corresponding private key are properly installed manually, so they are not affected by sandboxing. I also have installed the intermediates for trust purposes. The certificate contains the proper KUs and EKUs and my email address in the SAN I've got a valid S/MIME certificate issued by GlobalSign on my Android Galaxy A40 (Android 9) installed for VPN and apps.
